Study Abroad - A La Mediterranean
During my study abroad trip A La Mediterranean, I spent four weeks in Rome, Italy, followed by one week in Cannes, France, for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. My time in Rome was transformative — not only culturally but also professionally. I gained a deeper understanding of the nuances in international advertising, learning how to adapt campaigns across diverse demographics and psychographics. I also developed stronger skills in building effective, tailored social media campaigns designed for global audiences. The week in Cannes was the highlight of my early career. Attending the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity gave me unparalleled access to the industry’s best minds and most innovative work. I sat in on world-class speaking sessions, built connections across different sectors of advertising, and experienced some of the most inspiring creative campaigns from around the globe. Below, I’ve shared highlights from both Rome and Cannes, alongside the key lessons I brought home from these incredible experiences.
Rome Course Work
Here are some examples of the course work I did during my time at the American University of Rome
Airbnb Italy Campaign
In my international advertising class, we were tasked with picking a global company and creating an advertising campaign for them. We had to make two different ads, one targeting US or Western audiences, while the other targeted specifically Italian audiences.
During this class, we spent a lot of time learning about Hofstede's Principles, and they were a large basis to our campaign.
You can click on the above link to go through the presentation deck we made surrounding this campaign, the storyboards I built, as well as our strategy and reasoning that went into the campaign.
Nike Nomad Campaign
In our social media management class, we we're tasked with creating a social media campaign for a brand of our choice. If I am being honest, we we're supposed to create a campaign about the study abroad program we we're on, but we asked for some creative freedom to make this campaign happen.
Clicking through the slideshow above, you will be able to see our entire Nike Nomad campaign, from concept to strategy to execution. I was responsible for strategizing these posts, naming our campaign, audience and industry research, captioning, etc. You will also get to see the social media content we produced, with yours truly being most of the on-screen talent ;)
We did a great job of bringing Nike's "Hero" archetype into the travel world and let people know that picking the right shoe is the first step to travelling success.
Campo De Fiori Blog
One of our projects in our social media class was to pick one of the provided historical places/monuments, and create a blog post and social post "hyping up" and bringing awareness to the location. I chose to showcase this blog post because it caters to the elderly demographic who reads these more often, and I believe it shows versatility in a very digital world. The copy in this blog is playful yet informational, and it highlights the perks and opportunities an old couple can take advantage of while exploring Campo De Fiori.
By clicking on the link embedded in the picture above, you will have access to the entire blog as well as the social media content we made for the campaign as well.
